    I started training with Jeff in January 2014. I came to Fuel with labral tears in both of my hips. Not knowing where to start or even if my goals were attainable, Jeff assured me that with a positive attitude, proper diet and consistency I would be back to feeling like myself again. Along with physical therapy and my regular workouts at fuel, Jeff helped me stay fit while recovering from my labral tears. I’ll say that within the first month of training, my whole attitude turned around and my view on lifting weights and nutrition had changed completely. Jeff works with me and not only helps me work towards and achieving my initial goals, but adapts to the new ones I make for myself. Jeff understands the importance of supplements and nutrition and he has helped tailor what I eat to meet my goals. He asked me to keep a food log, which I had never done before. He held me accountable by regularly checking my entries. I am now a big believer in writing it all down! With Jeff continuously educating himself, he can explain in detail what your body is doing and how it works when you train and fuel your body properly. This has helped me tremendously!! I think about everything I put in my mouth and I see the results from the hard work I put in at the gym! I feel stronger at 43 than I have ever felt thanks to FUEL! Thank you for your constant encouragement, for helping me realize my capabilities and your infectious smile every time I walk through the doors at Fuel!

    Jeff changed my body. He has been instrumental in allowing me continue to stay very active with all of the sports I like to play. Before I started training with Jeff we discussed what I was trying to achieve. After a detailed assessment he constructed a custom detailed weight training program 3 years ago.

    I have been training with Jeff Brockes at Fuel for approximately one year and the time has been well spent. While I’ve always been active in running and biking, as well as some strength training, I have never been able to truly achieve the right mix of body weight and fitness. That has changed since working with Jeff. Friends notice that I am now leaner; and I now have faster runs and am a stronger cyclist. Jeff not only focuses on the training regimen, but also diet (something I needed since it is easy to think being active is a license to eat). The facilities at Fuel are always clean and the sessions are run efficiently – both of which I value. The other people training there are good to be around and everyone wants to improve.

As a 53 year old with serious chronic lower back issues, the recurrence of pain and periodic times away from my exercise program was becoming extremely frustrating. As you now, I have definitive fitness goals that require consistent and often an intense level of effort that I was simply unable to achieve because of the severe discomfort, limited mobility and incorrect exercises for my condition. Prior to meeting and working with you and your specifically designed program at Fuel, no other “trainer” was able to keep me relatively pain free and on course. Your constant monitoring, reevaluation and understanding of how, when and where to “push” me has been instrumental in my ability to reach my goals, and more importantly, has improved the mobility and strength in my lower back resulting in a much more comfortable day to day lifestyle. Learning the “why’s” of what exercises I am performing and participating in a “living and breathing “program that is designed specifically and especially for my needs and goals has been the most important thing (from a physical perspective) that I have ever done. I know there are other good professionals that work in the fitness industry. However, there is only one facility, and one wellness program that I would ever personally recommend to my family, friends or to anyone who asked…and that would be Fuel under the guidance of Jeff Brockes.

Now that I work full time and I’m a mom my time is limited, so I cut down to just strength training 3 days a week with Jeff. I had my BioSig done this morning and I’m down 4% body fat, compared to where I was before I was pregnant!

  • Jeff has had an extremely positive impact on my life over the last 4 years.   As I began to approach the reality of being 50,   I realized like most men my age, my diet had changed (for the worse), my lifestyle was too sedentary than I would like and my time available for training was limited.  I tried to keep in shape with running and inconsistent trips to the gym neither of which was effective in reducing my weight or increasing muscle mass.  Basically, I didn’t know what I was doing.

The call was to Jeff Brockes, owner and founder of FUEL Strength and Wellness Studio. I still remember going into the room in the back of the gym for my initial consultation. After dealing with miserable pain due to a car accident I was in when I was 28, I was skeptical. I had dealt with years of doctors trying to tell me everything I couldn’t do and I began to believe them. It was my pain management doctor, one of my biggest cheer leaders, who referred me to Jeff. I was depressed from losing years of my life to pain and I was scared to begin moving again.
    FUEL changed that fear. When I went in for my initial consultation, I met with Jeff and Gretchen. Between the two, they developed a plan, individual to my needs, that allowed me to feel my strongest with every new work out routine. They offered me continued nutritional advice that helped me to keep inflammation down and restore my lifestyle. They built work out routines that I could do on my own at my own gym, would provide video models to ensure I’d do them correctly, and would follow up with me during my next session with them. They were always accessible and would answer ANY questions I’d have no matter what time or day of the week! The FUEL team goes above and beyond to ensure that your workouts are tailored and effective. Working out at FUEL is unlike any gym or any trainers you will ever encounter! With their help, I was able to rebuild and strengthen my body, attitude and perspective on life and moving forward!
    I moved away from St. Louis in the summer of 2015 and was scared I’d never find a gym or trainers as beneficial or as effective! I was right! After trying a few gyms in Orange County, CA, I’ve decided to continue being a part of the FUEL family through the use of technology. As I write this now, Jeff is working with me to develop a plan with the use of videos, video calls, pictures, phone conversations, and emails to continue doing workouts under his guidance!. I know it won’t be the same as walking into their gym every Saturday morning, getting asked what I ate for breakfast, or getting guilt tripped from socializing too long while doing my stretches, but I know that being back with Jeff and the FUEL team can only lead me to do great things!

I had experienced a lot of back and pelvic pain in my second pregnancy, so when my husband and I found out we were expecting our third child, I knew I needed to do something different to take care of myself and have a healthy pregnancy. I started working with Jeff Brockes when I was about 3 months along and noticed a dramatic difference in my posture, strength, energy levels and how I carried the baby through transitioning trimesters.  Jeff was able to monitor my limitations while still allowing me to feel that I was able to progress in strength and ability.  He was also a great source of support and accountability for eating nutrient packed foods that would benefit myself and the baby and was a wealth of information on health related topics including sleep, diet, vitamins and protein requirements.  I was able to work out right up until a couple days before delivery and even though I experienced my longest labor yet with my third baby, I felt the most physically and mentally strong by far.
